In January of this year I was honored to receive the Duisberg Annual Peace Award, presented
by the Southwest Florida Coalition for Peace and Justice. It shows me that my striving to co-create a
peaceful world through my music and my political activism is noticed and appreciated by my like-minded
community! THANK YOU!
My, now two summers old, CD One World Our World is still bringing wonderful opportunities!!
Filled with songs of social concern, hope, and songs of encouragement for all who are focused
on moving forward in life on a positive note. I am using the messages with intention to help heal our planet.
My Job as Music Director for the Unity Church of Sarasota has been a learning and growing experience for me.
One that has stretched me musically and sharpened my adiministrative skills. This past May I opened the doors
of opportunity for my friend and collegue Rob Satori to take over the Music Diretorship. I stay on at Unity
as choir director and provide the music for the weekly meditation service which is from 7:30-8:15 on
Wednesday evenings. I will also be bringing my musical/spiritual enrichment programs to the Sunday School
every 4th Sunday at Unity.
This change of job discription affords me the time to be singing more Mindy Music programs throughout the
State this year and to focus on some musical productions I have in mind, including some more
recording projects. I of course will continue with my private music students.I teach beg-intermediate
piano, guitar, voice and violin.
Mindy Simmons and the Hot Pockets is taking a different shape. Carolyn Dunn has left the group to pursue
some of her other musical interests, and Annie and I welcome Lisa Bohn to the trio! Come see us with our new
sound. The harmonies are sweet and the sound is complete!! I'll be posting pictures soon.
On a closing note, Ed, Mike and I have found a wonderful drummer, Peter Bonagiano, to complete the Peggy
Lee quartet group, so look for more info on that coming soon.
